چکیده

T hymoma is a tumor in which detection is a challenge to both the internist and radiologist. Because of its location in the anterior part of the mediastinum, it is sometimes difficult to distinguish radiologically from an aortic aneurysm,14 a prominent left pulmonary artery,13 an enlarged right atrium,”3 enlarged hilar lymph glands, or a pericardial effusion.4 We have lately observed apparently characteristic features distinguishing thymoma on the plain chest x-ray film and on fluoroscopy, atthough these are not present in every case. It is the purpose of this report to describe these features as additional radiologic signs which may be helpful in the diagnosis of thymoma, as well as to give a short review of some interesting clinical features of patients with thymoma.

This study evaluates the relationship between quantified clinical signs including pain, restriction of movement, stiffness and structural changes with MRI and plain radiography findings. Methods: Eighty patients with knee osteoarthr...

Thymoma calcification: Is it clinically meaningful?

Among anterior mediastinal lesions, thymoma is the most common. Thymomas are tumors of thymic epithelial cell origin that are distinguished by inconsistent histological and biologic behavior. Chest imaging studies typically show a round or lobulated tumor in the anterior mediastinum. Calcifications in thymomas are classically punctuate or amorphous, positioned within the lesion. Chest computed ...

Myasthenia Gravis Appearing After Thymectomy: a Case Report and Review of the Literature

A small proportion of thymoma patients without myasthenia gravis (MG) have been observed to develop MG after total removal of the thymoma. However, the underlying cause is not yet known due to the rarity of postoperative MG patients. We report a 39-year-old man in whom MG appeared after surgical removal of a thymoma. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging showed no signs of recurren...
